MRSC Social Media Comments Policy

This policy applies to all comments posted in MRSC and MRSC Rosters social media accounts.

• MRSC social media is not a public forum.
• All posted comments must be related to the topic at hand.
• All comments are the responsibility of the commenter, not MRSC, and should not be taken as official endorsement by MRSC.
• Research requests cannot be submitted through social media. They must be submitted through the Ask MRSC inquiry services at mrsc.org/askmrsc.
• Public records requests cannot be submitted via social media.
• All social media posts, comments and list of followers are subject to public disclosure under Chapter 42.56 RCW.
• MRSC reserves the right to remove inappropriate comments, including but not limited to comments which meet any of the following criteria:
  • Off-topic or tangential to the original post
  • Potentially libelous
  • Obscene or explicit
  • Promotes, fosters or perpetuates discrimination on the basis of creed, color, age, religion, gender, marital status, national origin, physical or mental disability, or sexual orientation.
  • Hateful or mean-spirited
  • Personal attacks, insults, or threatening language
  • Material that is plagiarized or violates intellectual property rights
  • Private or personal information published without consent
  • Commercial promotions or spam
  • Embedded images from external sources
  • Lobby for or against legislation, endorse or oppose political candidates or ballot propositions, or otherwise express, endorse, or imply endorsement of opinions or political positions
  • Content that violates any law
