Webinar Overview

This webinar is the second in MRSC's three-part series on Utility Fiscal Management, which is intended to help utilities manage the daily activities of billing and collections as well as plan for the future. Each of the webinars will provide recommended best practices for utilities of all sizes to promote financial health and fiscal stability.

Educational Objectives

In part 2 of this 3-part webinar series, we will focus on the long-term financial health of utilities by addressing proper rate setting. Cost of service and rate design studies are necessary to assist a utility in setting rates that are fair and equitable to its customers. Real world examples based on generally accepted ratemaking principles will be utilized throughout the course. This webinar will help you:

  • Understand the impact of policy and financial considerations on customer rates;
  • Assess proposed rates that are defensible based on service costs and/or policy considerations; and
  • Recognize the importance of customer outreach to sell your needed revenue increase.
