Upcoming Workshops

MRSC conducts a number of in-person training events throughout Washington State on key topics such as public records and procurement.

Below is the list of all currently planned workshops; dates and locations will be announced as soon as they are available. Scholarships are available to ensure that all those who want to attend valuable trainings can do so.

Our in-person workshops have limited capacity and typically fill up quickly, so we encourage you to sign up as soon as possible.

MRSC also provides other training opportunities, including live and archived webinars and Public Records/Open Public Meetings e-learning courses for city elected officials. Learn about the latest training opportunities and local government news by signing up for our In Focus: Local Government e-newsletter.

Purchasing and Contracting Essentials Workshops

Back by popular demand, these all-day workshops will focus on purchasing in the morning and public works contracting in the afternoon. Each workshop will review statutory requirements, recent legislative changes, and how to align those requirements with the specific needs of your agency.

We anticipate at least six Purchasing and Contracting workshops between February and June of 2019; dates and locations will be announced soon.

Public Records Act Training: From A to Z

This full-day workshop will provide an in-depth review of the Public Records Act (PRA), starting with the PRA basics and then delving into more advanced PRA issues. This training will provide practical tips, a review of recent PRA case law, a look at the “Top 10” PRA challenges local governments are currently experiencing, and a discussion about how technology can help and hinder records retention and production.

We anticipate six PRA workshops in February and March 2019; dates and locations will be announced soon.
